Background
Chandra began playing badminton at the age of 8. He began playing with a
neighbor and soon developed a passion for badminton, which drove him to
his success today. Between 1999 and 2006, he was a member of the Djarum
Badminton Club/National Training Center, located in Jakarata, Indonesia.
Career
highlights
Chandra has participated and placed, among many of the top Badminton athletes
in the world, in multiple national tournaments. He has played in the National
Indonesian Open of 2003, which he won 1st place for, and he was undefeated
in the National Selection for the Indonesian National Team in 2005. He
has also participated in the Indonesian Open several times, and the Asian
Junior Championships as well. Just recently, he has won two titles in
the Bay Area Open Fall 2006 tournament, as well as the in the GGBC Open
in men's doubles (A), and mixed doubles (A).
After winning an unprecedented seven National Tournaments in a row in
2003, he caught the attention of the Indonesian National Organization.
From 2000 to 2006 he was in Djarum Club which is ranked number one in
Indonesia. Two years later at the age of 19 and after winning several
International Satellite Tournaments, he was invited to join the Indonesian
Training Center to train full-time with the best in the World. Chandra
represented the National Team in many international competitions from
2003 through 2006, including the World Junior Championship in Korea, Indonesian
Open, India Satellite Open and many more. With the blessing of the National
Organization, he came to the U.S. to spread the knowledge of the training
that put Indonesia in the forefront of the Badminton World.
